Journal Response 3/21
Mobility has changed writing drastically in the digital age as many new technologies advance the ways in which we can communicate and spread messages. There are several platforms designed specifically for sharing with others and gaining feedback, in a collaborative process to improve the piece and spread it further. Writing has become more peer orientated and with the audience in mind, as there is now an open connection between the author and the audience through comment sections and direct messaging, allowing them to share ideas and focus in on what the audience wants to have brought to their attention and in what format. A newspaper does not allow fast communication between the author and audience, as most people who read it keep their comments to themselves or those around them, while an online article allows the audience to voice their opinion in the comment section or find out more about the author and find their email to respond to them. The digital age has opened up borders and reduced the limitations of writing. Mobility highlights just how well a piece of writing is doing, as it is easy to see how many shares the piece has gotten or likes,or any other medium specific tool for spreading texts, and how the piece is interpreted something that would never have been present in non-mobile writing. Writing has become less of a solo project and more of a group project as everyone contributes to a text and adds ideas that help rework the text and give the audience more knowledge, this is seen especially in travel blogs where commenters can give their own reviews of a location and provide more information for those seeking it. Mobility has been able to change the writing process and as it continues to advance there's no telling how much more it will change and shape writing.
