Circulation is a term that is very important when it comes to writing and when speaking about social media. Basically, it is just how writings and things circulate the Internet in general. Because of social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter we are able to share different post and retweet tweets. This is how people’s writings are able to circulate throughout the Internet and different social media platforms. The circulation of a text is closely interconnected to the audience of that specific piece. You must keep in mind of the people that will be reading your writing. In Smith’s article, say goodbye to the comment section as we know it, we discover that we may not be seeing the online comments section on social media platforms for much longer and this definitely will have a major impact on circulation. Smith goes into detail stating, that the purpose of these comment boxes have not been satisfied, but instead have been used for people to express hatred and to be mean. People tend to forget that what they post on the Internet stays there forever and due to circulation have no idea who will one day see it. Though Smith says that it can be a negative experience that is not the case for all. With the creation of hash tags, people from all over the world writing on the internet can post about a related topic and have all those post organized into one place using the hash tag such as, #BlackLivesMatter. If it weren’t for that hash tag there would not be such a huge following and realization of the discrimination and violence African Americans are currently facing in todays day and age. Circulation is a powerful way of getting messages across and an important part of the writing process.
